Breakfast was good. Eventhough it's all the same stuff every single day, there's quite a lot and it's fresh. Our room was clean. Well done to our room keeper. We experienced some disadvantages, but still it's not bad value for money.
Staff was not "friendly enough". Sometimes, when we came back, the receptionist wouldn't even say basic hello, not to mention lack of smile, or any other form of conversation. One guy was always reminding us that we "may" pay for our stay before checking out. When we were checking out the receptionist/member of staff wanted to rip us off for 10 euro using currency exchange as excuse.
it's located in a popular area, that alllows you to see something else than tourist places.
breakfast is not that good.
Tayhan hotel was renovated in 2010 and all rooms and bathrooms are clean and well furnished. Under floor heating is excellent on cold days. We had a 6th floor room with great view of Blue Mosque and Marmaron sea.Staff are very helpful, assisted with taxi directions and airport transfers. Breakfast is the usual Turkish cornflakes, salad, olives, boiled eggs and bread . We bought fruit and own coffee and took it to breakfast to suppliment range.Lots of small local "pick & eat" restaurants nearby , where a meal costs Euro 2- to Euro 5- per head. One grilled Sea Bream fish was Lira 6- (Euro 3-), lentil soup was Lira 1-. No wine ,or beer in these restaurants. Tourist restaurants( four times more expensive) are 5 minutes walk away. There are 2 convenience stores nearby selling beer (Lira 3 per bottle),wine, snacks, fruit etc and 2 supermarkets next door and a great cake shop opposite. It is a residential area and lots of shops and facilities. Taxis are easy to get, and Topkapi is Lira 10- from hotel or a 20 minute walk. Tram station at Beyazit (Grand Bazaar) is 10/15 minutes walk uphill or Lira 4- in a taxi. Tram links to all tourist sites , including Dolmabache Palace across Galata bridge and costs Lira 1.75 per trip of any distance. Free wifi generally good
Wifi signal was lost from time to time for 10 minutes but we were told this was because we were on the 6th floor. It worked well in ground floor lobby on our own laptops.
It was a good hotel for short staying in istanbul, the not noisy , normal hotel for all with good price
Well there ino sign that the hotel is here and the hotel is surrounded with higher buldings so if you are walking you must miss it so fuuny, breakfast the same every day , no paying with credit card,
The staff are very accommodating and helpful. We had a problem with shuttle service when going home and the staff assisted us and really helped us find a solution so we can reach the airport in the right time.
it's about 15 minute walk from the blue mosque, but away from the turisty area, so it's easy to find good/inexpensive food.
the first night, I had two twin beds, instead of a double. (they change me to a double the next day)
The hotel is close to city center. It takes about 6-10 minutes to climb the hill to the tram station and Grand Bazar entrance. Good quality / price ratio. Clean bathroom, friendly staff. Staff speaks english. I'm used with diffrent quality for 3 *** range hotel, but over all it's ok.
It would be better if they put some clothes hookes in the bathroom.
The location was good as it was close to Sultan Ahmet and the adjoining areas of interest in Istanbul. The only negative is that it is a long walk downhill from the main road which made it very difficult with baggage etc. Aidan was quite hospitable and helpful .
Low price, clean renovated rooms, friendly staff, good location
free parking was not available as it says...
I couldn't find anything good when we're staying at Tayhan. location is not bad. It takes 20 min. climbing from hotel to grand bazzare.
Room smells bad. I couldn't sleep because of bedbug.
everything was more than excelent.... clean ...friendly ..breakfast more than enough ... street is noisy but this is the real istanbul ... everything was near ... i really recomnd it ... and i am sure 100% that i will come again and again
There is no specific good thing i can think of.
There was the problem of Shower drainage and the staff didn't bother to rectify it even after many complaints.
Do not trust the pictures on the website. We booked a triple room and we got a very small room. We arrived at Istanbul early in the morning and went to Hotel directly to take some rest first. Although, they have mentioned that check in starts at 10 am on the website, however we got the room at 12 pm. First night, toilet siphon broke and they were not willing to take care of it. They were just saying that we had called the technician and we would fix it in an hour and you could use the bathroom downstairs. Then I understood that they wanna postpone it until tomorrow, however they fixed it after 4 hours and a kind of discussion.
